Charming, energetic and well-organized, the Cruise Director is the onboard representative of the cruise line and the most visible contact point for guests. Our Cruise Directors thrive in the spotlight and feel at ease speaking in front of audiences of up to 180 passengers. They keep guests both informed and entertained on board the ship. They are knowledgeable about the cruise routes and excursions and are the passengers’ go-to person for information regarding the itinerary, destinations and shore excursions. In this role you will be fine-tuning the prearranged daily program, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

Requirements:

• native or bilingual proficiency in German and English
• experience in a similar working environment
• public speaking skills
• a passion for service
• pleasant and energetic demeanour
• capacity to handle diversity in terms of cultures, groups, individuals and situations

Nice to have:

• good command of an additional language, for example French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese or Chinese
• experience on board cruise ships
• destination knowledge on at least one of the major rivers in Europe (Danube, Rhine, Main, Seine, Rhône & Saône)

Responsibilities:

• act as main host of the cruise and take responsibility for all guest-related topics
• create cruise plans and daily programs
• hold embarkation and disembarkation briefings, informative talks and live presentations for up to 180 guests
• offer light entertainment options and present fun quizzes and trivia games in the evenings
• take excursion bookings and confirm buses and tour guides
• create a pleasant, lively and friendly environment on board
• liaise with Heads of Department and Senior management on board
• rotate between various itineraries and ships with different procedures, personnel and management when necessary
