A love for hospitality
Andreea was born in Brasov, a medieval city with narrow cobblestone streets, also known as the gateway into Transylvania. She studied German and English at the prestigious Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. Before joining AMADEUS, Andreea had a 9 to 5 office job with plenty of repetitive tasks and with no possibility of career advancement.
In 2004, she felt ready for a new career challenge and was excited to take the role of Receptionist to welcome guests from around the world on the AMADEUS vessels. Shortly after, she was promoted to Purser, and in 2008, after having acquired important itinerary knowledge, she pivoted to a new role of Cruise Director. „There is lot of creative freedom in exercising this role within the company, you can really bring yourself in and shape guest experiences“, says Andreea.
Her 2010 marriage took Andreea to Michigan in the United States, where she worked for some time on land, for a large corporation. Yet the love for travelling pulled her back on the European rivers. “Once you drink the waters of the Danube, as they say”, confesses Andreea metaphorically, „it is difficult to leave“. Fortunately, her husband shares the same travel spirit, the same love for hospitality and same desire to discover inspiring places together with others.
She has now worked on all AMADEUS itineraries: the Danube, Rhine, Mosel, the Dutch and Belgian Waterways and the French Rivers. After her first two weeks on the Rhône and Saône Rivers, Andreea fell in love with the sunny south of France, its beautiful destinations and lighthearted people. She was than the position of Cruise Director on the AMADEUS Provence. The guests feel her enthusiasm for the Rhône and Saône Rivers and for her work. “It is very important to love what you do – especially when you work with people”, concludes Andreea, “as the languages of joy and love are universal.”
We are excited to have her on board this winter and celebrate together the holiday season!
